Exciting insights into plant research

On this year's Girls' Day, ten girls had the opportunity to dvelve themselves into fascinating world of plant research. After a brief introduction to the institute and its research, the day began with hands-on lab work, where the participants got to try their hand at preparing and examining DNA. Some of them also used different microscopes to explore the microscopic world of plant roots, gaining interesting insights into scientific work.

In the greenhouse, our guests discovered the diversity of the plant world and learned which plants are particularly important for research. With a certificate in hand and plants they had potted themselves, they went home with many new impressions.

The Girls' Day was an excellent opportunity not only to discover the exciting world of science, but also to gain valuable insights into possible career paths for women in this field. The informal interaction with our young scientists was particularly valuable and opened up new perspectives for the participants. Contact with inspiring role models can be an important motivation for young women to pursue a scientific career and follow in their footsteps.
